We Need Each Other!

The headlines of the county’s financial pages are etched with tales of financial meltdowns, recessions, and corporate corruption. Political battles wage in halls of government and thru the media over deficit spending, tax cuts, health care, jobs creation, and more. We are currently engaged in conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as tracking down a worldwide network of terrorist, and all we seem to do is yell at each other. In a time in which this country needs us to come together to solve some critically important issues all we do is scream….
” My ideology is better than yours is!”
……and frankly folks it’s time to grow up.
The main problem as this writer sees it is that we have lost our common bond. That connection that binds us together for no other reason than ultimately we are all in this together. The revelation that as individuals we are all part of something bigger than ourselves and that for any of us to climb to the highest of heights we must help each other because collectively we can rise so much higher than we can individually.
Currently the largest division that divides our country is one of color, not black or white, red or yellow, but rather green. It is no secret that the division of wealth in this country has changed. The wealthy in America have grown wealthier in the past thirty years than in any time in this country’s history and the middle class continues to shrink as more and more fall into poverty. In the US the top one percent of America currently own over forty percent of the country’s assets and earn over forty percent of the country’s annual income, further widening the gap year after year.
Politically the two sides are traditionally represented by our two political parties, Republicans the wealthy and Democrats the American worker.  The interesting thing is how the two sides depend on each other but yet politically the two are at odds over just about everything. The wealthy are wealthy because the average American buys what they’re selling and the workers have the money to buy because they are employed by the wealthy. A symbiotic relationship if ever there was one.
This being true, why have the two sides become so far apart politically? Why do our politicians spend so much time screaming how the other side is wrong rather than coming up with political compromise that would benefit us all? It is not hard to see that our two major political parties the DNC (Democratic National Committee) and the RNC (Republican National Committee) have become extremely powerful and self serving. Both parties control the massive amounts money that is needed for election to political office. They have put their own political power above the good of the country. Their goal is not to make America a better place for all, but rather how many seats they fill in the next election cycle. They will not support any candidate that does not tow the party line and further the party’s agenda. If you step out of line and attempt compromise the money dries up and so does the hope re-election.
The media can often fuel the fire in the way they report on this clash of political power hungry behemoths. The days of double checking sources and confirmation of facts has given way to biased based reporting that cow tails to a certain demographic to generate ratings to sell more advertising.
Media outlets now pay millions of dollars to political shock jocks like Rush Limbaugh to call opposition leaders names and provide one sided opinions that fuel the growing anger that is welling up between the two sides. This is the way many of Americans now get there political input and ultimately this type of one sided reporting serve little good helping anyone make informed political decisions.
The problem now becomes how as a nation, do we bring to a halt what has become a lucrative and powerful status quo. Media outlets enjoy the ratings that bring large advertising dollars and the neither party is willing to be the first to compromise for fear of losing power to their long time rivals. In my opinion this is all very short sighted. In the end both sides need each other and this growing gap in America will cause us all to suffer. Strict adherence to either party’s ideology will ultimately lead to further strife and anger between our citizens and not lead to a brighter tomorrow for our children.
The first step in my opinion to bring to an end this senseless power grab is true campaign finance reform. Some type of public funded campaign system which removes the control that our parties have on our elected officials. Let’s let political ideologies go back to being simply a guide for our politicians rather than a set of shackles that bind their ability to lead this country. As far as how to control the media’s influence in all this it’s simple, just change the damn channel!

  1. Public campaign funds? I would rather chop my manhood off than give money to politician’s extravagant campaign dinners and five star hotels! Are you trying to sound unbiased? I can smell a pinko commie from a mile away and you reek of one! Democrats are the American worker? 90% of those lazy SOBs in the Democratic Party haven't worked an honest day in their entire lives. The other 10% is either too stoned or too old and senile to realize that the Democratic Party has become socialized. You talk about corrupted power, but how about our current president Obummer? He holds town hall meetings were only the most socialistic liberals are allowed to attend. The meeting praises everything he does whether it is good or bad and all opposition is either accused of being a racist or threatened with imprisonment (same scare tactics Adolf Hitler used!). Bush was a terrible president, but even he did not silence opposition or control the media like Obama has. Bush ruled with an iron fist, but Obama is more devious because he rules with an iron fist covered by a velvet glove of "Hope." The only hope both the democrats and republicans will give us is the hope that we will get a spot in the government soup line. Vote Constitutionalist vote FREEDOM. Google and become a member of the Constitutionalist party if you want to be a REAL patriot.

  2. You want to fix this country? How about elimanting liberalism and socialism! Socialism is a disease that has spread quickly through this country thanks to billybob clinton and obamawama. People need to get off their lazy, pathetic arses and get a damn job. The economy is bad, but their are still plenty of jobs. People just don't want to get a job that gets their hands dirty. Sorry osamaobama supporters, but he is not going to bail your lazy butts out, so get a job! Stop eating babies and burning capitalist at the stake and get a job! Stop crying about raising welfare and food stamp money and GET A JOB! Stop crying to uncle sam to help you out and GET A JOB! Stop listening to Al Gore motivational CDs and GET A JOB. Stop watching Michael Moore movies and GET A JOB. Stop cleaning the water bong for your next hit and GET A JOB! Stop singing the "Barrack Hussien Obama" song and GET A JOB! Stop mooching off my hard earned money and GET A JOB! Stop reading your children osamaobama's brainwashing children's book and GET A JOB. Stop spanking the monkey, while watching nancy pelosi speeches and GET A JOB! Stop reading this blog and GET A JOB!

  4. Two of the greatest forms of courage are to either

    1. Stand up and fight for the rights of others in some foreign land surrounded by enemies.
    2. Tell the world without compromise what your beliefs are even if you know that in doing so pain and suffering will surely follow.

Upon reading your blog, I found myself sitting back and wondering who you are trying to fool. Our writer goes out of their way to seem middle of the road, not siding with either party mad at both for a variety of reasons.

Throw in some anger at our Nations Press along with a half cup of Corporate Corruption a splash of Public Empathy.

And you have the perfect 3 course meal of
Shit Steak with 2 sides of Up Yours and Not My Fault.

It is so clear that you are Socialist Liberal, just like all Liberals you chose to hide behind a false front of the Middle only to turn around and say.

I hate the Government because…………… I hate our Society because………….. I hate the Media because…………….. I hate Capitalist because............

The line that best sums up who you are and what you really believe.

” My ideology is better than yours is!”

Next time find the Courage to say what you really feel and stop trying to Bullshit Us

  5. Obama is a one term president, but it is too late because we are soon to be a homeless resident. Obama imprisons those who resist, rather than vote liberal, I'd slit my wrist. His follower's are so stoned they think obamas the best, but in reality he's just like the rest. A corrupted greedy, freedom hating liberal, who loves nothing more than to manipulate the news journal. I can't say freedom, instead HILE OBAMA! I might as well say I love Osama. Good cars were destroyed, so that the poor don't have a ride (Cash for Cluckers Program), poverty will be our soon to be bride. Freedom he hates and our sorrow he doth strives, down the stock market doth dives. I think I am allergic to liberal vibes because when I am on this blog I get hives. No car, no job, no freedom insight. My life the liberals enjoy to smite. But freedom doth comes from the right because we have the guns and all of the might! AMEN!

  6. My honorable supporter:

I want to apologize for all of the false promises and lies I have told you. I want to apologize for the promises of wealth and great, free healthcare you will never have. I want to apologize for promising unity between all people, when the only people I love are the green ($) people. I want to apologize for promising to free all prisoners, who were convicted of non-violent drug crimes (I don't care about any of those poor, ass junkies). I want to apologize for promising change (I am playing directly out of bill's presidential playbook). I want to apologize for promising to restore the economy (It sinks farther and farther down with each bill I pass). I want to apologize for promising you hope. I had a confessional for this with the Pope (SEE I TOLD YOU I AM NOT A MUSLIM!!!). My muslim, er, Christian belief has told me to come clean. I am a fraud and the only hope for change that you will have is that change will fill your pockets instead of dollar bills. So, alas, in 2012 I must say adeu, and leave this mess for another president. It was fun while it lasted and I know right now your flabbergasted, but you knew deep down inside I was always a fraud. Thank you for supporting me even though I am a lier.

    Yours Lovingly,

    Barrack Hussien Obama

  7. Seriously? You make a call for reason and national unity and 6 people come out of the woodwork and jump you? I think we've just seen what's wrong with the national discourse.

From bottom to top, we've got a guy who thinks Obama promised to take us from a stock market crash to wealth, a guy who thinks Obama is throwing people in jail, a guy who thinks your moderate position is an act, a guy who thinks Obama is gay (seriously? Gay? That's the best you got?), and my favorite, the guy who says Obama "...holds town hall meetings were only the most socialistic liberals are allowed to attend." Hey, buddy. Look at how your republican holds a town hall meeting:

But you know, don't let the facts stand in the way of a good argument.

  8. The Problem is the Division
The Division of our Nation, we are a nation of groups everyone has to be categorized as something not someone. We have The Asian Americans, The African Americans, Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Indian Americans, Mexican Americans, Muslim Americans, Jewish Americans, and White Americans.
From this we are divided into more groupings Democrats, Republicans, Independents,
From there we are broken into even smaller groups Right Wing Conservatives, Left Wing Liberals, Moderates, Socialist, Capitalists, Environmentalists, Rich, Poor, Lower Middle Class, Middle Class, Upper Middle Class, Employed, Unemployed, Employable, Unemployable, Smart, Dumb, Heterosexual, Bisexual, Homosexual, Transgender, and my favorite OTHER!!
Does anyone believe this is by accident?
Thomas Jefferson wrote a House Divided Can’t Stand, I ask who is bringing us together, who is calling for everyone to Unite and at this point it would be fair to ask who cares.
Who Cares Enough to give up their title (see above for yours) and just be an AMERICAN?
My Hope was for President Obama to be that person a leader that was like no other, a leader that would not just, but could bridge the division that has broken our Nation into so many parts.
But the change that so many of us had hoped would come never has and appears never will
All I hear is the same old tired lines from a not so fresh faced leader who has given up long before most of us where ready to.
I will share this about myself,
I Haven’t Given Up and I Never Will!!
    Bless You All
And never forget we are Head and Shoulders above all others as long as we remember one simple thing we are
    America
